Most likely the article is talking about Ethereum blockchain, and does not apply to non-evm blockchains.

It is the Dapp which calls the functions of the smart contracts. It is not the super token but the Dapp which does all the calling and polling for trigger events.

It could be that there is no need of all the additional layer proposed in the article...
